Club Loreley,
A very, very beautiful Dinner Dance Club. The only German
heritage society in the Durham region of Ontario, Canada, A club for
German speaking people 905-728-9221, eMail address is
"info@clubloreley.org. of
German Canadian heritage, Austrian Swiss culture. This club has a variety of activity on a
weekly basis. On this particular night we were fortunate to experience a variety
evening which included an excellent dinner, with the Loreley Singers, Alliance
forum black forest dancers singers, karneval sommerfest youth dancers and Oshawa
kickers presenting
a performance on their 30th Anniversary. After which the DJ played music for
dancing. The music included the tempos and tunes that are commonly heard at
Oktoberfest dances. And of course he added social music made up of fox trots,
tango, cha cha ,rumbas, etc.
On this event the crowd was of the older generation. They were dressed well ,
mostly with jackets, shirts with ties. Some of the ladies wore long dresses.
From time to time the club brings in Big Bands for the current generation which
like swing style music from the 40s to 70s.
The club is also available for weddings on occasion.
The dance floor is rectangular in shape with a raised platform on either side
where there are tables and chairs for the guests. The club reminded me of some
of the dance clubs we visited in Germany with large open beams overhead.
Gerda Koepp was a great help to us to give us the information on future clubs
activities which will be posted continuously in our monthly dance events
sections. If you would like more inforamtion regarding hall rentals or band
selection etc. , call her at 905-263-2745,
