April 19, 2004, German Club, Cambridge, Visited this club
last night. Had a great time. A 5pc band called "Swingmasters" played to a
full house. This location is very homey, with good acoustics, very comfortable
feeling. Everyone was exceptionally friendly. They have members of the club who
introduce themselves to all newcomers when they come into the door to make
everyone feel wanted. The band played latins, swing, polkas, waltzes. In fact a
complete variety of good dance music. We'll go again.

August 29, 2004, Guelph, Ontario,
Harpo's Banquet Hall (Hobby Dancing),
95% Singles, All having a great time
The DJ Bill Novak was excellent playing a good mixture of social and latins with
some old time waltzes and polkas thrown in. The wood floor in this Steel Workers
Union hall was excellent . Smooth as silk as it should be. The ages ranged
from (guessing) 25 to 80 with most being in the mid 40's to 50's. Except
for one or two persons all were nicely dressed Some ladies with long
dresses and men with suits and ties. But most with just very comfortable dance
clothes.

September 18, Kitchener, Victoria
Park Pavilion, This is the second time I have visited this ballroom.
The wood floor is excellent. Since this was not one of their special occasion
dances dress was casual.
Dancers ranged in age from 30s to 80s --I'm guessing. Many were only social
dancers but there were also
some very high quality International dancers as well. The DJ Andy Mason, who
played all International
dance music is a ballroom dancer himself and knew the best choice of music for
the evening. Line
dancing was done a few times during the evening as well. The buffet was superb.
One of the best I
have ever had at any ballroom. The caterer "Angie's" of Waterloo must be
congratulated for the variety
and quality of the buffet.

October 22,2004, Kitchener, Polish
Legion Hall, Ricks Dance. If you are looking for an
excellent International Dance location where there is room to move, you must
visit this venue. Large smooth wood floor. Both beginners and
experts moving without worry of bumping into others dancers. Rick
the DJ and Host is an avid, experienced ballroom dancer who plays an excellent
mix of all the smooth and latin dance tempos. Most of the dancers were
couples from 30's to 80's. Parking your car is free with a large parking area on
all sides of the building. Some line dances were also played. There
were also a group of singles from a dance studio visiting. Rick also played some
salsa for them as well. Rick is single. I have seen him many times dancing at
various locations in the Hamilton to Kitchener area

February 6th.,2005, The Black Forest Inn,
Conestoga (near Kitchener and Waterloo),
An attractive German Style Restaurant with a good size dance floor
serving a buffet that's as complete and varied as any you would ever have the
pleasure of consuming anywhere in the world. And at a cost that is very low
compared to any we have been to before this. The waiters and waitresses all
dressed in white and black clothing.. The high ceilings with large wooden beams
and the red brick walls and large rustic style wooden chandeliers and gold table
clothes set the scene for a very restful afternoon dinner and dance. Dinners are
available from 4p.m. to 8pm. during which time soft dancing music is played.
Dance music was started around 4pm. Staff are extremely friendly and cannot do
enough for you. Clients who arrived were greeted warmly by the hostess and
staff. After speaking to many of the guests, we found that some of them drive
long distances to visit their favourite buffet - dance club on a Sunday
afternoon. It is well worth the drive. Long dinner tables can hold as many as 20
persons for celebrations and then there are numerous tables for 4 and then the
intimate tables for two next to the dance floor as well. The music is soft
social rumbas, chachas, foxtrots, polkas, waltzes. with few dancers knowing the
proper steps to the various dances. But all of them with loving smiles on their
faces. What more could you want?. The best food. The best music and
someone to enjoy it with. The live music was played by a well known versatile
singer and artist "Bogdan". He is well known by the dancers in southern Ontario
for his very precise tempos to the various dances. Simply - he is one of
the best who knows how to keep the sound down rather than blaring. And he
accepts requests openly. After 6pm. the dance floor was more crowded by dancers
requesting polkas and waltzes. I recommend that International dancers come early
to give them room to move.
So give yourself a treat and give this location a try. I guarantee that you will
want to go back again and again. You won't forget it.
