When I was 12 years of age I had 2
or 3 boy friends that would visit me just to say hello
and ask if I would like to go for a hike or something.
Sometimes when they had a cigarette they would try and
hide it when they came but my mother noticed. So, one
day she said to me. Tony , please go and learn to dance
and it will help you stay out of trouble. Well, one
day I went with my bike to Fenwick to the Optimists ( I
think ) club square dance. I had so much fun having
all the old ladies teaching me to dance that I started
to go every Friday. That was a turning point in my
life. I learned all the different dances that the
Square dance society taught but then by 15 yrs of age I
also started to go to other dances and learned the cha
cha, rumba, etc. And the amazing part was I had all
the girls wanting to dance with me because I knew the
proper steps. I was a favourite at the school dances.
I had all the girl friends. My boy friends had the bad
ones. I got married at 20 years of age my one and only
marriage in my lifetime. 35 years. And I was a virgin.
That is what dancing and clean fun did to me.
And I have written this story so
that you can see that my mother Theresa Hornick gave me
good advice. GO AND LEARN TO DANCE AND YOU WILL STARY
OUT OF TROUBLE. The dancers I went with did not drink
liquor of any kind, nor did they smoke. They wanted to
dance and have clean fun.
That told me I should start a web
site and teach the young on a right path to adulthood.
