                                                                 THE MIXER
The problem of too many ladies and not enough men can be solved. At most dances, ladies out number the men.
We know that the most common problem at dance locations is that too many ladies are sitting out too many of the dances. They sit and sit and rarely get a chance to dance. We know that isn't the best scenario. Well there is a way
to solve this problem, in part.

In the past many things have been tried, Broom dancing, Stop the music and change partners dancing, Paul Jones
using a circle, etc. etc. etc. In each of these it meant, in most cases, that the man who acquires the lady dancer,
dances the complete dance for the balance of the music at that time. Well, that just does not work too well.
What if the man is an accomplished dancer and he now is with someone with 2 left feet for 3 to 5 minutes.  NOT GOOD. He wished he never went into that mixer. Right? So, let's see if we can shorten his time on the floor with
that dancer and also give more of the many ladies the opportunity to dance.

This is the method that I am going to explain  (refer to the picture above) and it is the solution to these problems. A man at the head of the line takes the woman next to him at the head of the ladies line and dances around the floor only once, at his own comfortable speed, he then drops her off at the end of the ladies line. The man now resumes his position at the end of the mans line.  But lines move quickly and before he knows it, he is again at the head of the ladies line picking up a new partner. The average dance is only about 4 minutes. In that 4 minutes this will give him a chance to meet from 4 to 6 different ladies rather than only one. In this way,  he may possibly get to meet the right dancer for him. It may be a Top dancer meeting a top dancer or it may be a competitive dancer meeting a similarly experienced dancer from one of  those 6 persons that he dances with.

Now that will be much more interesting scenario, won't it. This makes for a lot of camaraderie and fun in the ballroom. Dancers are able to meet the majority of the people at the dance in one evening instead of meeting just 3 or 4.  After 2 of these sessions within a 3 to 4 hour period, several things will happen. Ladies will ALL be happy to return to the next dance, as they will be confident in having more time on the dance floor. They might even find that special person who dances in a compatible style and now they can make a pair. If you like the description, please let your dance owners know about this explanation, suggested to you by www.dancinglist.com , Tony Hornick.  By the way, this system is used exclusively in many ballrooms in the state of Florida and the music played is usually only Fox Trots or Waltzes during the mixer.

PLEASE LET TONY KNOW IF AND WHEN YOU USE THIS SYSTEM OF MIXING GENDERS,
We will then give you some extra free advertising to get more dancers involved at your dance club.
